DARKERSKY4CE: Sentinel Alliance

The Sentinel Alliance is a result of the DARKERSKY4CE project carried out as part of the Interreg Central Europe programme, it aims to ensure a stable entity that will actually pursue all the necessary actions in order to reduce light pollution and to highlight all resulting benefits.

Purpose:

The Alliance aims to strengthen cooperation between institutions on light pollution and to raise awareness among policymakers, professionals, citizens and tourists. It also works to promote best practices for sustainable lighting management, support dark sky tourism in rural areas, and identify new funding opportunities.

Organisation

Two bodies govern the Alliance. The Alliance Assembly is the main decision-making body: it defines the Alliance’s strategy, approves statutes, elects the Board, admits new members, and meets at least twice a year. The Alliance Board is the executive body responsible for implementing the Assembly’s decisions: it is composed of 7 elected members, who appoint a President, a Deputy and a Secretary among themselves, manages the Alliance’s activities between Assembly meetings, and serves two-year renewable terms.
