LIGHT SOURCES
Private Houses and Flats
Domestic private lighting is a source of ALAN upon which government bodies have limited influence. In particular, during specific seasons or on the occasion of particular events private houses can be lit up even more than usual. Furthermore, the use of outdoor lighting on private properties rarely takes environmental consequences into account, not to mention the fact that many people assume that increased lighting leads to greater safety, although evidence does not always support this belief.
Nevertheless, with education and awareness, modern LED lights, shielded fixtures, and motion-sensitive lighting, the impact of domestic private lighting could be considerably reduced.
