LIGHT POLLUTION

Every Light Has Its Shadow

IMPACTS ON ECOSYSTEMS

Light pollution has a significant impact on ecosystems and can disrupt the natural rhythms that many species depend on for survival. In particular, light pollution interferes with the behaviour of nocturnal animals and plants. Over time, these disruptions can lead to ecosystem fragmentation and a decline in biodiversity.

IMPACTS ON ECOSYSTEM SERVICES

Light pollution poses a growing threat to ecosystem services, leading to the loss of many benefits that natural ecosystems provide, both directly and indirectly, to human societies. Reducing light pollution is therefore not only an environmental priority, but also a necessary step towards protecting and restoring the full range of ecosystem services on which we all depend.
